The Department of Computer Science had organized a Guest Lecture on “Green Computing”. This Guest Lecture was conducted for BCA & PGDCA students. The aim of the guest lecture on Green Computing is to educate and raise awareness about the environmental impact of technology and computing, and to inspire individuals to adopt sustainable practices in their use of technology. The Resource Person for this Guest Lecture was Prof. Sanjay Kumar, Head and Dean, Faculty of Computer and Information Technology, Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University, Raipur.

Head of the Department Mrs. Pooja Rathi commenced the program with the brief introduction of Prof. Sanjay Kumar. In her address she informed the students about the topic and discussed how important this subject is for societal benefits.

Prof. Sanjay Kumar began the lecture by highlighting the urgent need for Green Computing in today's technologically-driven society. He emphasized how exponential growth in the use of electronic devices such as computers, smart phones, and servers has resulted in a significant increase in energy consumption and carbon dioxide (Co₂)  emissions. By adopting Green Computing practices, we can reduce our environmental impact and contribute to sustainable development. He discussed the concept of sustainable development and how it relates to Green Computing. He stressed the importance of balancing economic growth with environmental conservation and social responsibilities. This involves minimizing resource consumption, adopting renewable energy sources, and ensuring proper e-waste management.
